Craig Anderson"s "A Peek Down 6th"

Craig Anderson was born and raised in upstate New York before moving to San Diego in 1988. He works exclusively in transparent Watercolor. Craig believes that art is a timeless expression of the beauty that surrounds us: a fossil of some piece of real life that existed in time and space, a real, living, breathing thing.

His trademark is his use of vibrant color and bold value patterns in order to reveal and discover the majesty hidden within his subjects.

Craig is an award-winning artist whose work is represented by private and corporate collections nationwide. He is a member of the San Diego Watercolor Society and has served as a juror in a number of art exhibitions and is in demand for live demonstrations and workshops.

* Materials:

Paper:       1 -  1/2 sheet (15x22), (Some have asked if they can use a 1/4 sheet instead of a half sheet...  feel free to use what you want but I encourage you to use the 1/2 as it will allow you to be looser and use a bigger brush for most of it.

Paints:      Bring moist paint as the techniques we will be using in the class won't be able to be completed with dry paint.

Brushes:  Bring your usual arsenal of brushes and include your biggest brushes.

Markers:   We will do a marker value sketch before painting, so bring a sketch book.  Please bring a Black, gray scale markers #3 and #7.  I use Chartpak markers but any grayscale markers will do.

This is the picture for the Workshop.  Craig will be doing a 15'x22" (half sheet demo) of the subject and then the workshop participants can paint along.  He suggests that, if you want to paint the Mission, have it drawn out ahead of time on the paper.
